July 30th, 31st and August 1st, 2026

Thursday, July 30th (Upshur Creek Tide: Low 3:57 PM) Beautiful Barrier Islands and Birds!
12:30-1:00 pm: Arrival at Barrier Islands Center Museum (BIC)
1:00-2:00 pm: Introductions and VCR programs presentation
2:00-4:00 pm: Short BIC presentation and explore museum 
4:00-5:00 pm: Travel back to Brownsville; drop off bags at houses (freshen up or change)
(pizza-type dinner included on boat ride-cost included in fee)
5:00-7:30 pm: Evening boat ride to Hog Island for Barrier Island and Birds exploration (TNC)

Friday, July 31st (Oyster Harbor Low 4:00 PM) All things Marine Restoration!
7:30-8:15 am: Breakfast on own (houses have full kitchens)
8:15-8:45 am: Travel to town of Oyster
8:45-11:45 am: UVA’s LTER ABCRC tour and activities (oyster and coastal resilience focus)
11:45-12:45 pm: Lunch from Machipongo Trading Company (MTC-cost included in fee)
12:45-2:00 pm: Horse Island trail exploration and TNC seagrass tanks
2:00-6:00: Eelgrass Exploration (seine and dip netting) and Drone Mapping demo 
6:00 pm: Dinner @ local restaurant (cost not included in registration fee)

Saturday, August 1st(High tide: 11:36 am) Don’t forget the Bayside! 
7:00-8:00am: Breakfast on own
8:00-8:30 am: Travel to Savage Neck Dunes Natural Area Preserve from Brownsville
8:30-11:30 am: Savage Neck Dunes NAP Exploration (DCR)
11:30-12:00 pm: Travel back to Brownsville
12:00-12:30 pm: Wrap up and depart, lunch on own

**Folks who have a long way to travel can come in early for an extra night at their respective houses; TNC staff just need to know if you are coming in on Wednesday evening**

*Options to explore either Thursday before 12 pm or after 12 pm on Saturday: To the south-Kiptopeke State Park, Eastern Shore National Wildlife Refuge, Cape Charles Natural Area Preserve. To the north-Mutton Hunk Natural Area Preserve and Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.
