Volunteer With VAEE

Volunteers are the heart of VAEE. Whether you want to help plan the conference, assist on the day of the event, or contribute your skills year-round, we welcome your involvement!

Conference Planning Committee

Our Annual Conference is guided by a volunteer Conference Committee, led by a Conference Chair (one-year term). Committee members help plan sessions, logistics, and activities in the months leading up to the event. Most roles involve a 9–10 month commitment, depending on the position.

Conference Day Volunteers

We also welcome volunteers to help during the conference itself. These roles help ensure the event runs smoothly and may include:

  • Conference check-in and name tag distribution

  • Assisting at the VAEE merchandise table

  • Supervising the silent auction

  • Helping presenters with AV or technical needs

  • Event setup and teardown

  • General event support as needed

Year-Round Volunteer Opportunities

VAEE also relies on volunteers beyond the conference. Areas where your skills can make a difference include:

  • Professional development support (help with workshops, resources, or training events)

  • Communications & outreach (social media, blogs, photography, design)

  • Partnerships & community engagement (connecting with educators or organizations)

  • Fundraising & Sponsorship support (Sponsor outreach, donations)

  • Administrative & organizational support (data entry, supporting day-to-day operations)

  • Committee or leadership opportunities (special projects or serving on advisory boards)

Board of Directors

VAEE recruits new members to serve on its Board of Directors each year. Board members help guide the organization’s strategic direction and support the advancement of environmental education across Virginia.
