Creating Climate Stewards: Activating Student Involvement to Tackle Climate Change

Are your students overwhelmed by climate change and eco-anxiety? Learn how to transform fear into action by using positive, solution-focused approaches that engage and empower students. Discover how local success stories and high-impact climate actions can give students a sense of agency. Through case studies from the Forces for Nature podcast and interactive group work, you’ll develop relevant, local success stories relevant to your communities. You will leave with a lesson plan, tools for high-impact climate actions, and strategies to foster empowered, action-driven learners ready to face environmental challenges.

About the Speaker:

Crystal has over twenty years of experience in environmental education, sustainability, and conservation. She currently works as an environmental educator and podcast producer dedicated to helping people answer the question, “But what could I possibly do to make a difference for the environment?”. She does this through her podcasts, Forces for Nature and The Healthy Seas Podcast, and her educational programming geared for schools and businesses, the EcoAction Lab. Prior, she worked for the Wildlife Conservation Society, National Geographic / Solimar, and the Smithsonian Institution. Crystal holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Studies and an M.P.A in Nonprofit Management.
