This professional development event is part of an ee360+ grant-funded series. Lunch will be provided and the cost to participants for the training, the guide, lunch & snacks is $10.
Triple Project Educator Workshop for PreK-2nd educators: Growing Up WILD (WILD), Trees and ME (PLT), & Getting Little Feet WET (WET)
Friends of the Rappahannock is pleased to partner with Northern Neck Soil and Water Conservation District to offer a joint workshop on Growing Up WILD, Trees & Me, and Getting Little Feet Wet. Growing Up WILD training is provided through the Department of Wildlife Resources Project WILD programs. Trees and Me is offered through the Virginia Department of Forestry and Project Learning Tree. Getting Little Feet Wet is offered through the Virginia Section of the American Water Works Association. These lessons are geared for children ages 2-7. At the end of the training, you will receive a courtesy copy of the book Growing Up WILD, provided by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, and a courtesy copy of Trees and Me and Getting Little Feet Wet supplied by Friends of the Rappahannock.

Citizen Science Workshop with James River Association
Do you want students to DO science in your class? Learn how JRA collects data to inform its policy actions and programs on a series of exciting field trips. Journey on the Spirit of the James to trawl and catalog fish on the James’ bottom, become a field scientist by collecting data with our James RiverWatch program, and conduct field research of invasive species in Richmond’s parks! Participants will design a data-driven lab of their chosen topic to use in their classes this school year.
Project WILD and Growing Up WILD Educator Workshop, Elementary School (PreK - 5th) focus

Canoe Paddle Skills and Ecology with James River Association
Earn your American Canoe Association Level 1 certification, all while connecting with the ecology of the tidal James at Deep Bottom Park! Participants will learn the basics of safe paddling in flatwater environments, and engage in activities to learn more about the local ecosystem.

Take a canoe out at our Upper James River Center to explore the habitat of freshwater mussels! Work with JRA’s Education Specialist to learn more about engaging students with mussels’ unique life cycle and physical adaptations with a series of fun, connected activities for all grade levels.
